It is a mock trial workshop already tested at another camp with activists.
Activists from Mediterranea Saving Humans (civil fleet) are being sent to trial with the accusation of aiding and abetting illegal immigration.
In the workshop, the participants will be divided in 2 groups and simulate a debate as Prosecution and Defense. They will playfully and interactively learn about the real case and all the relevant applicable norms (the key facts, national, European, international law, and jurisprudence), and then simulate the debate and argumentative strategies of Prosecution and Defense.

Es handelt sich um einen simulierten Prozess-Workshop, der bereits in einem anderen Camp mit Aktivisten erprobt wurde.
Aktivisten von Mediterranea Saving Humans (Zivilflotte) werden wegen Beihilfe zur illegalen Einwanderung vor Gericht gestellt.
Im Workshop werden die Teilnehmer in zwei Gruppen aufgeteilt und simulieren eine Debatte als Anklage und Verteidigung. Sie lernen spielerisch und interaktiv den realen Fall und alle relevanten geltenden Normen (die wichtigsten Fakten, nationales, europäisches und internationales Recht sowie die Rechtsprechung) kennen und simulieren anschließend die Debatte und Argumentationsstrategien von Anklage und Verteidigung.
I, the moderator and creator of the workshop, have a m. degree in law and will provide printed materials to work on in small groups and a presentation to lead the experience.
A number of participants of 12-16 is ideal, but more or less is fine.
The aim is not a technical judicial simulation but an engaging and interactive way to learn and reflect on all legal and political aspects, interpretation of "criminal conduct", "emergency", "necessity", the obligations of States, and the use of trial as a repression and prosecution of solidarity in the SAR context.
Activist with Mediterranea Berlin since 2023, graduated in law, passionate about human rights, law, international cooperation, and freedom of movement.
Extra note: I am happy to stay at the Camp longer, but to be sure, I only sign up for saturday during the day to deliver my workshop!
