The presentation is being prepared in close cooperation with the Polish organization Fundacja Bezkres, which has been supporting refugees in the Podlaskie region for the last 4 years. The focus is on the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border - a place where racist state violence and border regime practices, isolation policies and militarization characterize the everyday reality of Fortress Europe Policy.
The presentation opens with a historical outline from 2021 - the beginning of the humanitarian crisis at the Polish-Belarusian border. It will show how the situation on the border has changed during the last 4 years, how solidarity networks and humanitarian structures have emerged under extreme conditions: What worked? Where were the setbacks? And what lessons can be learned from this practice?

The second part sheds light on the current situation in the border region: pushbacks, the systematic exclusion of access to protection, the targeted criminalization of aid, state-led disinformation and the deliberate concealment of humanitarian suffering. This is not about detailed legal questions, but about political stocktaking: What does it mean when the right to asylum no longer applies in practice? What does this say about the future of European migration policy - and what consequences do this have for concrete solidarity work?
The presentation is intended as an invitation to discuss the scope of action, political responsibility and the question of what we can learn from our experiences at this border for future disputes. And finally: What can mutual support look like in concrete terms under such precarious conditions?

Die Präsentation wird in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der polnischen Organisation Fundacja Bezkres erstellt, die seit vier Jahren Geflüchtete in der Region Podlachien unterstützt. Der Fokus liegt auf der Situation an der polnisch-belarussischen Grenze – einem Ort, an dem rassistische staatliche Gewalt und Praktiken des Grenzregimes, Isolationspolitik und Militarisierung den Alltag der Festung-Europa-Politik prägen.
Die Präsentation beginnt mit einem historischen Abriss aus dem Jahr 2021 – dem Beginn der humanitären Krise an der polnisch-belarussischen Grenze. Sie zeigt, wie sich die Situation an der Grenze in den letzten vier Jahren verändert hat, wie Solidaritätsnetzwerke und humanitäre Strukturen unter extremen Bedingungen entstanden sind: Was hat funktioniert? Wo gab es Rückschläge? Und welche Lehren lassen sich aus dieser Praxis ziehen?

Der zweite Teil beleuchtet die aktuelle Situation in der Grenzregion: Pushbacks, der systematische Ausschluss von Zugang zu Schutz, die gezielte Kriminalisierung von Hilfe, staatlich gelenkte Desinformation und die bewusste Verschleierung humanitären Leids. Dabei geht es nicht um detaillierte juristische Fragen, sondern um eine politische Bestandsaufnahme: Was bedeutet es, wenn das Asylrecht in der Praxis nicht mehr gilt? Was sagt dies über die Zukunft der europäischen Migrationspolitik aus – und welche Konsequenzen ergeben sich daraus für die konkrete Solidaritätsarbeit?
Der Vortrag versteht sich als Einladung zur Diskussion über Handlungsspielräume, politische Verantwortung und die Frage, was wir aus unseren Erfahrungen an dieser Grenze für künftige Auseinandersetzungen lernen können. Und schließlich: Wie kann gegenseitige Unterstützung unter solch prekären Bedingungen konkret aussehen?
